Donate gifts of stocks or bonds

A charitable gift of stocks or bonds provides an opportunity for tax savings while generously sharing with others. A gift of stock owned for more than one year entitles you to a charitable deduction for the full market value at the time the gift is made. If the stock has appreciated, you also avoid a capital gains tax on the appreciation. In addition to helping Habitat, you may diversify away from low-basis, long-term holdings into other assets that will better suit your current needs. Matching Gifts

Many employers will match tax-deductible charitable contributions made by their employees, retirees and employees' spouses. Some provide matching funds to support employee volunteer hours. When making a donation to Habitat Savannah, please check with your employer to see if they will participate in a match. You can double the impact your dollars have in our community.

Planned Giving

Help us build hope for future generations by leaving a charitable bequest to the Coastal Empire Habitat for Humanity. By including a gift for Habitat Savannah in your current will or revocable living trust, you will ensure a legacy of safe, decent and affordable housing in our community. You can decide to leave a specific amount or percentage of your estate to Habitat Savannah. Such a designation would not affect your current financial allocations, since it is not in effect until after your lifetime. Including a bequest of a percentage of your estate ensures that your gift will remain proportionate no matter how your estate's value fluctuates over the years. If your estate is subject to estate tax, your gift to Habitat Savannah is entitled to an estate tax charitable deduction for the gift's full value. As with all financial decisions, it is encouraged that you inform your family in advance of your decision to make a bequest to Habitat Savannah. To designate a monetary gift include the following official bequest language in your will or trust:

I, [name], of [city, state, ZIP], give, devise and bequeath to the Coastal Empire Habitat for Humanity, Inc. [written amount or percentage of the estate] for its unrestricted use and purpose."
