As the Volunteer Coordinator, I couldn’t be happier working alongside the individuals who generously give their time, talent, and treasure to execute the mission of Habitat for Humanity. Our volunteers are the nuts and bolts of organization. From the delightful youth groups, ambitious college groups, all the way down to our gratifying Team Builds, we’ve got a lot to be grateful for. In June, we had Alida Hotel and CarMax both come out to participate in group builds with us. Both companies were extremely excited to assist in the completion of our active Habitat home. They were successful in building a stronger relationship amongst each other while giving back to the community. We also partnered with Xcel Summer Camp. This partnership was to support Xcel <<Jeramiah: show Xcel as hyperlink to company website XCEL HOME - Xcel (xceltoday.com) >> in their venture to provide information and resources to middle and high school students about organizations right here in the local community. These students were able to learn how to build a wall; instilling confidence, community, and hope as they continue to grow. In July, we had YouthWorks come volunteer in our ReStore for an entire month! YouthWorks is a faith-based organization that specializes in mission trips around the world. They send groups of young adults to volunteer at non-profit organizations instilling the love of Jesus Christ. Our partnership has been ongoing for ten years. This year, on their last day of service, young adults participated in an interactive activity with our CEO, Zerik Samples, for some fun. Overall, June and July have both been rewarding as the Volunteer Coordinator. I’m looking forward to the months ahead!
